Pinnacle odds API: your options after the 2025 shutdown

Pinnacle’s prices are the reference point for much of the betting industry, but its public API closed in July 2025. Here is what changed, the realistic ways to get Pinnacle odds today, and what our own Pinnacle data looks like.

What happened to the Pinnacle API?

For years Pinnacle offered a public REST API that any account holder could use to read odds. According to the Pinnacle API documentation on GitHub, access has been closed to the general public since 23 July 2025.

Pinnacle now describes bespoke data services for select high-value bettors and commercial partnerships. Academic researchers and pre-game handicapping projects can still apply by describing their use case to Pinnacle directly. Everyone else needs another route to Pinnacle prices.

Why developers want Pinnacle prices

Low margin. Pinnacle is known for thin margins and high limits, so its prices are widely used as a reference for what an outcome is really worth.

A fair-odds baseline. Removing the margin from Pinnacle’s prices gives an estimate of the fair probability, which other bookmakers can be compared against.

A closing-line benchmark. Pinnacle’s closing price is a common yardstick for judging whether a model or a pricing team is beating the market over time.

What we collect from Pinnacle

Measured in our own pipeline during one hour on 31 October 2026 (12:49–13:49 UTC). Matches listed, average number of individual prices per match, and the median time between two complete reads of the same match.

Pinnacle coverage by sport, one-hour sample
SportMatches listedPrices per match (avg.)Median refresh
Football148≈ 150≈ 60 s
Basketball112≈ 190≈ 60 s
Tennis200≈ 33≈ 5 min
Ice hockey9≈ 240≈ 3 min

Pinnacle concentrates on main lines and alternative lines, so it carries fewer prices per match than recreational bookmakers. Danske Spil, for comparison, averaged about 1,120 football prices per match in the same hour. See Nordic bookmaker coverage.

Numbers are rounded and come from a single Saturday-afternoon sample. Coverage changes with the fixture list, time of day and season.

Example: Pinnacle as a reference price

Say Pinnacle prices a football match at 2.08 / 3.60 / 3.85 (home / draw / away). The implied probabilities are 48.08%, 27.78% and 25.97%. They add up to 101.83%, so the margin is about 1.8%.

Dividing each by 1.0183 removes the margin proportionally and gives a fair home probability of about 47.21%, or fair odds of about 2.12.

If another bookmaker offers the home win at 2.20, its price is above the fair estimate: 0.4721 × 2.20 − 1 ≈ +3.9% expected value under that assumption. Proportional margin removal is one method among several, and it is an estimate, not the true probability. Read more in our expected value guide.
